The Maghi language, also known as Magadhi, is a language spoken in majorly Bihar, Jharkhand and some part of West Bengal states of eastern India. Magadhi Prakrit was the ancestor of Magadh, from which its name derives.
Maghi, being one of the oldest language from around the world and being a language of masses has been diminishing its shine since advent and advertisement of HINDI.
Dr. Ram Prashad Singh, the found of Magahi Akadmi, has been instrumental in spreading and encouraging the education and proliferation of Maghi.
Dr. Singh’s effort were recognized at highest level, when he was awarded with SAHITYA AKADAMI AWARD in 2002. His and his followers persistent efforts made MAGHI reach back the pride it deserved and was successful to make the language of mass, a mode of education at college/university level.
